Sandra Combs, LUT
Licensed Unity Teacher
Sandra Combs is a Licensed Unity Teacher, having received her License in Pastoral Care from The Unity School of Christianity and the Association of Unity Churches, Inc. in June, 2003. Sandra, now at Unity by the Sea, teaches classes on a regular basis and speaks on the 1st Sunday of each month. Having just moved into Lincoln City full time, Sandra is very pleased to be in service to those attending this lovely spiritual community. She is so happy to work with Rev. Ruth Miller and to be considered part of Unity by the Sea Ministerial team. For over eight years Sandra was the Licensed Unity Teacher and minister's assistant at Unity World Healing Center, now known as Unity Center. The last four years she has been working with Unity of Portland teaching numerous classes each year While living in the greater Los Angeles area Sandra was the director of The Woman’s Care Cottage, for three years, a drop-in day center for homeless woman and children, providing the basic needs for women in crisis such as food, clothing, telephone, mailing address, showers, laundry facilities and counseling. During that time Sandra also began working with Haven House, a safe house for battered women in crisis intervention. Since 2002 she has been actively working as a Chaplain within the Department of Corrections, Religious Services Dept. in their program "Home for Good in Oregon" (HGO), a faith based re-entry program as well as teaching and mentoring several individuals currently incarcerated or released. She considers this her "ministry" and has been asked to make presentations within the Unity community within the Northwest Region and elsewhere. Prior to moving to Oregon, Sandra lived in Pasadena, California and attended the Academy of Metaphysics and completed two full courses in three years. At that time she became increasingly aware of the difference between spirituality and religion and re-entered the world of Spirit through the Church of Chirothesia (The Healing Hands of God). For many years Sandra described herself as a Christian in “exile” still having a strong belief there was something greater at work in the Universe; something that Loved us and was kind rather then judging and harsh. Upon moving to Oregon in 1996, Sandra began attending Unity World Healing Center as Unity came very close to her education and beliefs. There Sandra began attending classes and eventually made the decision to begin the Continuing Education Program and upon completion to become a Licensed Unity Teacher with her specialty area in Pastoral Care.
